Another Great Auction 12th February
Two French Art Nouveau bronze relief plaques relating to the Comite Francais des Expositions a l’Etranger. The plaques feature bas-relief allegorical figures, including one figure wielding a hammer and another holding a branch. The text Comite Francais des Expositions a l’Etranger is inscribed along the right margin. One plaque is a positive relief, while the second plaque features the imagery and text in reverse, suggesting its function as a matrix for printing or casting. The items are constructed from a copper alloy with a natural reddish-brown patina.
