This carved wooden ethnographic sculpture represents a male twin figure, known as an ere ibeji, from the Yoruba peoples. The stylized human figure is depicted with hands resting on the torso and features a polychrome finish in red, blue, and black pigment. The body is decorated with carved geometric patterns and the legs contain distinctive circular recesses. Small blue glass or stone inlays are set into the eyes and chest, while the rectangular mouth contains a white inset likely composed of bone or shell. The figure is carved from a single block of wood.
