A Victorian-era mourning hair memento housed in a rectangular tooled leather case of the type typically used for ambrotypes or daguerreotypes. The exterior is finished in a dark maroon with a hinged brass clasp. The interior features a light-colored plush lining with an oval-shaped aperture containing an intricately coiled lock of brown hair. The hair work is accented with small white beads, likely seed pearls, and gold-toned metallic thread.
