A French glazed ceramic terrine or covered dish designed by Michel Caugant in the form of a mallard duck. The two-piece earthenware vessel consists of a lid modeled as the upper body of the bird and a matching oval base with a plain cream-colored interior. The exterior is finished with a polychrome glossy glaze, featuring a green head, yellow bill, and white neck ring above a brown breast and gray wings with blue speculum accents. The piece is hand-painted in a naturalistic style. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
