Another Great Auction 12th February
This box features a hand-painted ceramic tile inset in the traditional Deruta Raffaellesco pattern. The rectangular tile depicts a stylized dragon amongst scrolling foliate and floral motifs in a Majolica palette of blue, yellow, and orange. A signature, possibly reading Polo, is visible in the upper corner of the ceramic panel. The wooden cabinet is finished in a dark stain and exhibits a distressed texture with extensive surface pitting. The front panel opens on a continuous brass piano hinge to reveal a plain wood interior.
