Another Great Auction 19th February
A pair of commemorative philatelic and numismatic displays produced by the Franklin Mint for the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. One display features a US-postmarked envelope from Cape Canaveral dated July 17, 1975, with a Mariner 10 stamp and a gold-plated sterling silver medallion depicting astronauts Thomas Stafford, Donald Slayton, and Vance Brand. The second display includes a Soviet-postmarked envelope with a Baikonur cancellation dated July 15, 1975, two 12k USSR stamps, and a gold-plated sterling silver medallion featuring cosmonauts Alexey Leonov and Valeri Kubasov. Both envelopes are addressed to Mr. Carl Harrison in South Yorkshire, England, and include mission-related illustrations with bilingual text in English and Russian. The displays are housed in matching gold-finished frames with black matting.
