A Japanese Imari porcelain temple jar with a matching cover. The piece features hand-painted decoration in underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron red, and gilt. The body is designed with large reserves depicting a phoenix amidst blossoming branches and floral sprays, interspersed with geometric patterns and chrysanthemum motifs. The matching domed lid is similarly decorated and surmounted by a pointed finial with gilded accents. The jar is presented on a carved dark wood circular base.
