An English brass bound oak barrel bucket of coopered construction, likely intended for use as a coal or peat scuttle. The tapered body is composed of dark-stained oak staves secured by three wide brass bands, each featuring decorative scalloped borders. The bucket is fitted with a substantial brass swing handle with a shaped grip, secured to the sides by ornate brass mounts. The interior is darkened from historical use.
