Another Great Auction 19th February
A pair of Royal Doulton hand-decorated ceramic bookends featuring characters from the historical plays of William Shakespeare. The set includes a bust of King Henry V in armor, positioned against a book spine titled Henry V, and a bust of Falstaff, positioned against a book spine titled Henry IV. Each piece is finished with polychrome glazes and mounted on a base modeled as a leather-bound book. The underside of the Henry V bookend bears the Royal Doulton maker mark, model number D7088, and identifies the modeler as David B. Bigg with a copyright date of 1997. The accompanying Falstaff bookend is identified in manufacturer records as model number D7089.
