A mid-century modern sunburst wall clock featuring a gilded, multi-rayed frame. The central clock face is set behind glass, featuring black Roman numerals on a cream-colored dial with ornate black hands. The dial is marked SMITHS 8 DAY 4 JEWELS and MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN, and includes a FAST/SLOW adjustment indicator. The frame is finished in a gold-tone gilt with a decorative foliate inner border. The construction consists of a molded frame with radiating rays of staggered lengths, creating a starburst effect characteristic of the period. This style of clock is frequently associated with mid-century manufacturers such as Welby.
