A 19th-century needlework sampler executed in cross-stitch on a light-colored ground. The work features several rows of alphabets and numerals in red and green threads. The lower portion is inscribed with the name M A Briggs and the date April 4, 1843. Decorative motifs include stylized evergreen trees and various geometric border patterns. The piece is housed in a narrow black wooden frame.
