Another Great Auction 26th February
A collection of various mid-20th-century enameled and metal lapel badges primarily associated with British service and community organizations. The group includes a square silver-toned badge for the Women’s Voluntary Service (W.V.S.) marked Civil Defence with a crown crest, manufactured by Marples and Beasley of Birmingham. Also featured are circular badges with red enameled backgrounds displaying a stylized LW monogram and the text For The Forces, accompanied by a lion rampant motif; these bear maker marks for J.R. Gaunt London and stamped serial numbers on the reverse, including 7485 and 35858. Completing the group is an oval openwork brass-toned Women’s Institute (WI) badge inscribed For Home and Country in green enamel, featuring a red maple leaf and rose, marked by W.O. Lewis (Badges) Ltd of Birmingham.
