Another Great Auction 26th February
A Victorian ceramic commemorative mug produced during the Boer War. The cylindrical body features a square-profile handle and a transfer-printed design centered on a crest inscribed EACH DOING HIS COUNTRYS WORK. The central motif is flanked by the Union Jack, a Red Ensign, a kilted Highlander soldier, and a field gun. Additional text includes HIGHLANDER, NAVAL BRIGADE, and the dates 1899-1900. The mug is finished with gilt-lined rims and displays a smaller floral and landscape vignette on the reverse. The underside is unmarked except for a handwritten red inventory number 2037.
