This hand-painted lacquerware box features a curved, concave lid and rests on four integrated, shaped feet. The exterior is decorated with traditional South Asian folk art motifs in a palette of yellow, red, and white against a black ground. A central circular medallion on the lid depicts a stylized elephant, surrounded by dense scrolling and floral patterns that extend to the side panels. The interior is finished in high-gloss black with a decorative patterned panel on the inner lid. The piece is constructed with two metal hinges.
