A collection of glazed ceramic soup plates or shallow bowls in the Rural Scenes pattern by Clarice Cliff for Arthur J Wilkinson. Each piece features a multi-colored transfer-printed central medallion depicting a pastoral cottage scene with figures. The wide border is decorated with a brown monochrome transfer-printed design of foliate scrolls and agricultural implements. The reverse of each item is marked with a brown backstamp reading RURAL SCENES, Royal Staffordshire Dinnerware by Clarice Cliff, MADE IN ENGLAND.
