An oil painting on canvas by the noted British silversmith Gerald Benney (1930-2008), dated 1983. The expressionistic composition depicts a turbulent seascape featuring white-capped waves beneath a heavy, dark sky. The work is executed in a palette of deep blues, grays, and whites. A small white number 13 is painted in the lower-left corner of the canvas. The artwork is housed in a tiered, dark brown and silvered wooden frame. The verso of the piece includes a cursive signature and date reading Gerald Benney 1983, along with hand-lettered text identifying the artist as a FAMOUS SILVERSMITH.
