Another Great Auction 26th February
This 19th-century Victorian theater broadside, dated September 25, 1867, commemorates The Mayor’s Bespeak at the Theatre Royal, Doncaster. The playbill is printed on silk and features bold letterpress typography announcing performances of Sheridan’s comedy School for Scandal and Byron’s burlesque Cinderella! by John Coleman and his company. The text includes the patronage of Mayor H. Woodmansey, detailed cast lists, and a breakdown of scenes for the Cinderella production. The bottom right margin credits the printer as E. Dale of Doncaster. The item is presented in a contemporary black wooden frame under glass.
