A Victorian novelty propelling pencil of crucifix form, crafted from yellow gold-toned metal. The exterior surfaces are decorated with engraved scrolling foliate patterns. The item features a telescoping action engaged by a sliding button cast with a skull and crossbones motif. Small, indistinct hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible within the internal channel of the sliding mechanism. The terminal is fitted with a suspension loop.
