The larger vase exhibits a black glaze with a subtle textured under-pattern, decorated with irises, water lilies, and a wading bird; it features a matching water lily motif on both the neck and the base. The smaller vase is finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze decorated with blossoms and a peacock, with a corresponding floral motif on the neck and base. Both pieces are finished with gilded rims and unglazed foot rims. No maker’s marks are visible on the undersides, which feature decorative floral motifs instead of backstamps.
