Another Great Auction 12th March 2026
A large terracotta storage jar of tapered ovoid form, featuring integrated lug handles and a matching flat lid topped with a circular knob handle. The vessel is constructed with a thick, dripped orange-brown glaze covering the upper portion and handles, while the lower section remains unglazed, showing visible mineral buildup and weathering. The interior of the jar contains a light-coloured residue. Small inventory labels are affixed to the lid. This style of vessel is characteristic of 19th-century Spanish or Mediterranean utilitarian pottery, often used for the storage of olives or oil.
