A large-format Victorian family Bible, identified by web consensus as Brown’s Self-Interpreting edition. The volume is bound in heavily embossed brown leather with intricate gilt-stamped decorations to the front board. The cover design features a central crown within a starburst, surrounded by banners containing the text from Psalm 119:105: THY WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET AND A LIGHT UNTO MY PATH. The interior opens to a vibrant chromolithographed title page with ornate Gothic-style architectural framing, religious figures, and floral motifs, titled The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments. The thick text block is finished with gilt edges.
