An antique vesta case or matchsafe in the Chinese Export style, crafted from a silvery-toned white metal. The rectangular body features a contoured silhouette and is decorated with high-relief repoussé work depicting a serpentine dragon across the main body and the hinged lid. A small suspension loop is attached to one side for use with a chain or chatelaine. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces.
