Another Great Auction
Two glazed porcelain bird figurines depicting European goldfinches. The first figurine is a Staffordshire production designed and modelled by J. T. Jones, featuring a goldfinch with wings partially spread, perched on a smooth, moss-green base. The underside is marked DESIGNED AND MODELLED BY J. T. Jones and STAFFS ENGLAND, with a handwritten GOLDFINCH 6. The second figurine is by Beswick, depicting a goldfinch perched on a textured branch adorned with purple thistles. The base is stamped BESWICK MADE IN ENGLAND 2273 GOLDFINCH. Both pieces are hand-painted with characteristic red facial markings and yellow-and-black wing patterns under a high-gloss glaze.
